The Alphabet series is a project I started in late 2007, a planned series of twenty-six Aviaries.  Each shadowbox is composed on a different theme, chosen for interesting words that conjured scenes from my memory/imagination.

I had originally expected these would be simple, the whole set of 26 comprising the finished piece.  But as each Aviary developed, they became more complex and time-consuming — and I hope the better for it.  It's become a surprisingly extended project, but I now have exactly three more to make to complete the series.

Tucked somewhere in each scene is the title — sometimes a little hunting is required.
